Cerebral Palsy Not Stopping Cross Country Skier Denis from Reaching for Dream

Gabriel Denis is well on his way of achieving his goal of competing at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

The cross country skier from Black River-Matheson recently returned to the Timmins Victor M. Power Airport with a gold and two silvers from the 2015 Canadian Para-Nordic Championships at Ski Nationals in Thunder Bay.

His trophy cabinet is getting quite significant. This past winter alone, he competed in two of four O-Cup races this season, finishing first in both, and took home three bronze medals last month from the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C.

In Thunder Bay, he took silver in both the 5-km and 10-km cross country ski races. Sandwiched between those was an inspiring gold-medal victory in the 7.5-km event.
