Each month, we receive hundreds of submissions from families all over the world, sharing their stories as well as photos of their children. If you would like to feature your child as the Hero of the Day, send us a photo of them to our facebook page.
I want to nominate my brother Mahmoud to be the hero for today. He is 27 years old, and has cerebral palsy due to complications during labor. He is the joy of our family, and he is very intelligent, compassionate and funny. He always hugs me when I feel down, I love him to death.
I would like to nominate my daughter, Mariah, for hero of the day. She turned 7 in October and she is the best thing that has ever happened to my family and me. She has Ataxic Cerebral Palsy, a Third-Degree Atrioventricular Block for which she has a pacemaker, and Retinitis Pigmentosa. Despite not having the ability to walk on her own, and only short distances with her walker, it doesn’t stop her! She is the most determined, tenacious, funny, beautiful little girl anyone could wish for. She inspires me every single day to be a better mom and a better person. I love her more than words can describe. She is my world!
Hello! This is my daughter Alexander Gayle, 15 years old. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was a year old. Being a single parent is hard, but she taught me to be strong and tough. I love my daughter so much. She’s my angel, my hero and my everything.
This is our girl Ava who will always be our hero. Even though Ava has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, she has the most beautiful smile and is such a happy little girl. Ava was born 14 weeks early and we were told it was touch and go. Even through bad days, she gives us that amazing smile. We love her so much and we are so proud of her.
I’d like to nominate my brother for Hero of the Day. This is a picture of Charlie and I last year at a wheelchair run/walk. He is the happiest kid I know. My family adopted Charlie and watching him grow up has been such a blessing. He was diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegic CP. Now I’m 500+ miles away at college and I miss this kiddo, but he still inspires me every day.
Hello there, this is Malachi who just turned 10 years old. He has CP and febrile seizures. His smile is amazing and it is what keeps me going. Thank you for making him the hero for the day because he’s my hero everyday.
John Hugh otherwise known as JJ was born on April 25th, 2013. At 9 months he was diagnosed with spastic quadriparetic cerebral palsy. Despite his inability to walk, sit up or talk, we are blessed to have him here with us today. At birth he wasn’t breathing for 34 minutes and its only God’s will he’s alive. He is our first child, and I love him even more. I am extremely blessed to have such a special boy in my life. He gives us so much to laugh and smile about. And so his father and I want to nominate JJ our hero. Love you endlessly baby!
This is my sweet baby Matthew Logan Cushman. He had a traumatic birth in 2000 and was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He was the light of my families life and had a smile that made all the bad in the world disappear. He went to be with Jesus on February 16th. It amazes me everyday how many lives he has touched. A TRUE HERO! I love you “Chew Chew.”
Hi there! This is my beautiful great-granddaughter Cienna Rose. She was diagnosed with CP when she was 10 months old, and she’s now almost 4 yrs old. She can’t talk or walk, and cant sit up on her own, but as you can see she is such a happy child and is our beautiful princess. She’s got the prettiest smile, and she’s our ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. She is loved by everyone, and just loves to be around people, especially kids, and is an inspiration by all who meet her. I would like to nominate our little angel for CP hero as she is such a special beautiful child and makes everyday day a special day! God bless her, she’s our little ray of sunshine. XOXOXOX
This is Gabe and he turned 6 on December 1st. He has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy. He caught RSV while in the NICU and suffered 2 strokes, brain bleeds and lack of oxygen. He has had the SDR surgery and in November will be going to have the heel cords and hamstrings released. He will also be starting stem cell and bone marrow treatments in the near future. He’s a fighter! To follow him please go to Facebook.com/fightergabe. His favorite saying is “Good bunnies never give up” by Peter Rabbit. When things get tough he repeats it out loud to himself. He’s a very happy boy and loves swimming, skiing, singing, and performing for people.
We would like to nominate our beautiful daughter Angel, posthumously as Hero of the Day. She lived for 18 years 2 months and 17 days before she left us on Friday morning August 15th, 2014. She fought a tough battle all her life, but she was always a happy beautiful little girl and her smile could light up a room. We’re so glad that she loved everyone and didn’t grow up knowing what hatred or bigotry was, she knew nothing but LOVE. Seeing the world through Angel’s eyes must of been a truly wonderful thing! Her name was Angel Michelle Wilson and she was somebody!! R.I.P. sweetheart we shall always love you and you will be in our hearts forever, it was an honor to have been your parents!! Angel Michelle Wilson 5/29/96 – 8/15/14.
This is my hero, Faith! She was born at 23 weeks 5 days, now 6 years old and just started grade 1. She has CP and GDD. She is slowly but surely starting to talk. She is my inspiration. She has so much determination and spunk!
This is my daughter Victoria. She was born with cerebral palsy. She is my whole world. She is the strongest, most brave, beautiful, determined young lady I know. She does not believe in the words “no” or “can’t” and nothing can hold her back. Watch out world, Victoria is on her way!
My son Muhammad, he is now 19 months old and has CP. I’m proud of my son, when he makes smile then I forget sorrows and sadness I love all children with CP. When I see any CP children, I feel that is my child.
She’s Iris. She was born on Christmas morning… A beautiful gift !!! She got diagnosed 6 months ago. Because of her Cerebral Palsy she has Iris Coloboma in both eyes and Microftalmia in one, Hydrocephalus, Epilepsy and recently had her Spinal surgery for Scoliosis. But she’s a fighter!!! Nothing can erase her smile or fade her hugs that she gives to everybody. Every day at therapy she demonstrates that she wants to go further. And she does!!! In September, she almost died in the hospital of an Epileptic Crisis. But she came back!!! Just waking up from CPR she was weak but always in good mood. She’s strong, she’s our Warrior little angel.
My daughter, Nashira, was born October 23, 2012 in the Philippines. This last August, she was diagnosed with spastic hemiplegia cerebral palsy. She is three years old now, and is very responsive, but she is not walking and doesn’t talk yet. Best regards to the CP families. Thank You.
