Power Lifter Doesn't Let Cerebral Palsy Stop Him from Setting Records

Power Lifter Doesn't Let Cerebral Palsy Stop Him from Setting Records

By Brian Warner

Matt Ross has cerebral palsy, but it hasn’t stopped him from pursuing his dream of becoming a world-class power lifter.

“I’ve been lifting for about three and a half years,” said Ross, “ I thought ‘I could use my weakness as a strength’ instead of looking at cerebral palsy as an excuse.”

He’s setting world records, but says it’s the inner strength he’s gained that he values most.

“He’s got the biggest heart. He’s done something that doctors have told him ‘you can’t do that!’,” said Matt’s coach, Jennifer Taylor.
