Longfellow Elementary School
Longfellow Elementary is one of the Boise School District's oldest schools with a rich history of over 100 years of academic excellence.
Located in the historic North End, our school celebrates the diversity of individuals and groups and realizes the absolute need to not only acknowledge but celebrate the variety of cultures and national backgrounds within the school, local, national and global communities.
As members of an International School, Longfellow students are exposed to a curriculum enriched by historic, geographic and cultural extensions that provide frequent opportunities for students to explore, understand, and draw conclusions with other people, cultures, and historical experiences. For example, during a monthly international country of study, students will explore the historical, political and geographic aspects of the country. In addition, they may listen to music, create art, perform folk tales, taste meals, grow crops and/or play games indigenous to the country.
Furthermore, Longfellow students grades K-4 are provided weekly foreign language instruction in Spanish, with the goal that all students will be receiving Spanish instruction by the 2012 school year.
