Our Mission is to provide care of unprecedented quality, exceptional comfort, and timely unrestricted access to all residents of South Central Kansas and the adjacent region. To establish and maintain strategic relationships with local physicians, allied health professionals, and upstream healthcare providers thereby ensuring the continuity of care to our local community and regional customer base.

South Central Kansas Medical Center provides general medical and surgical care for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room patients, and participates in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Emergency room services are available on a 24-hour per day, seven-day per week basis. Among the services we provide are:

Home Health: is used to promote, maintain, and restore health, in order to minimize the effects of a medical disability. Services are provided through a series of scheduled visits ordered by your physician. However, staff members are available to answer questions and provide care 365 days a year. Services Provided:
Medication instructions
Intravenous med. administration
Wound care and wound vac
Teaching disease processes
Diabetic management
Therapeutic exercises
Muscle strengthening
Assist with bathing and personal hygiene
Insertion of urinary catheters
Drawing blood samples for lab tests with other skilled needs.
Ostomy care and teaching
Dietary counseling
Assessing and evaluating health status

ICU: Seriously ill or injured patients are cared for in the medical center’s Intensive Care Unit. Our specially trained, highly skilled nursing staff offers quality care to patients and their families. This 4-bed ICU is designed to provide patients with constant monitoring through the newest technology in bedside cardiac surveillance, as well as direct observation by the nursing staff. All rooms are private to create an environment for optimal, expedient recovery. The patient to nurse ratio is kept at a minimum to allow for exceptional attention and care for each patient. Generous visiting hours coupled with a private waiting area keep families informed and close to their loved ones.

Obstetrics: South Central Kansas Medical Center’s family birthing center understands that every family and delivery is unique. Our highly qualified staff is here to assist you with all stages of the birthing process; providing pre-natal birthing classes, one-on-one nursing care for mother and baby during labor and delivery, postpartum education, and will continue to answer any questions after baby is home. Together, our knowledgeable nursing staff has over 70 years of experience, and is available 24 hours a day to answer your questions.

Physical Therapy: SCKMC rehab services consist of experienced Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Pathologists all of whom combine disciplines to meet your rehab needs. The team will provide preventative and rehabilitative services to maximize functionality and promote improved quality of life.

Aquatic Therapy: SCKMC’s Aquatic Therapy combines the benefits of pool therapy with the traditional physical therapy to provide an effective alternative for your patients rehabilitation needs.

Respiratory Therapy: The Respiratory staff offer a full range of services to assist the breathing impaired, and to assist your practitioner to diagnose conditions of the respiratory system. Diagnostic tests include nerve conduction testing (NCT), electroencephalogram (EEG), pulmonary function tests (PFT), and echocardiography services (EKG).

Respiratory therapists basic tasks are keeping airways open, inflating lungs with oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide in treating emergency, intensive care and acute care patients. Daily tasks would include basic nebulizer and oxygenation therapies. Respiratory services also attend all cesarean sections and assist the OB department with airway emergencies that arise within their department.
