We are a pioneer in providing educational and therapeutic services for a variety of students with special needs. 1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey, located in Belleville, is a highly-acclaimed, approved non-profit private school for students with multiple disabilities ages 3-21. We have been recognized as a School of Excellence by the National Association of Special Education Teachers.

Our transition team facilitates the development of independent living skills, job training and community integration. 1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey offers a variety of extracurricular activities, clubs and sports, including Boy Scouts, performing arts, chorus, Special Olympics and more.

We also offer an extended 6-week school year (ESY) program that continues our educational and therapeutic programs during the summer. The physical therapy department at 1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey fosters independence and mobility for every child through a comprehensive individualized plan of care. At 1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey we work closely with teachers, therapists, doctors, orthotists, and vendors to seamlessly meet your child’s specialized needs.

Using evidence-based practices, we provide the best therapy to achieve the greatest gains in function and skill. Treatment options include NDT, sensory integration, LiteGait Partial weight bearing, treadmill training, therapeutic exercise, rock wall, aquatic therapy in our on-site pool, hippotherapy, group programs, community based learning and yoga. We have therapists who are certified in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT), Assistive Technology by RESNA, sensory integration and therapeutic listening. Our PT supervisor is recognized by the APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) as a pediatric-certified specialist. Assistive Technology – Assistive Technology refers to the devices, equipment and services that assist individuals with disabilities to function independently at work, home or school.

Our Assistive Technology Department works to develop greater independence with our students by providing adapted equipment that improves their functional capabilities. 1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey has a variety of products and equipment that can be used for evaluation and trial.
