Handwriting classes – All Write! is a handwriting program designed to help children develop skill and proficiency in handwriting. Writing is a complex task that incorporates components of coordination, organization, speed, posture, strength and endurance. For many children, integrating these components is challenging. We developed All Write! because handwriting and self-esteem are closely linked. Children who are able to write well do better in school and enjoy it more. Those who have difficulty with handwriting are frequently at a disadvantage in school.

Facts on the All Write! program:
Meets twice weekly
Both Printing and Cursive Groups offered
Eight week developmentally-based curriculum
Includes initial assessment
Small group interaction
Parental involvement
Home carryover provided
Summary provided for your school therapist

Social skills groups – Focus on Friendships! is a social skills group that is facilitated by an occupational therapist. Children who have learning disabilities invite friends to engage in activities less often, go places with friends less frequently, go to sports events less often, and engage in fewer extracurricular activities than their peers. This difference persists into young adulthood. Although children who have learning disabilities interact with peers frequently on an informal basis, they have few opportunities to engage in and learn from more complex activities with their peers.

The Focus on Friendships! program provides an environment for children who have learning disabilities to practice friendship skills, social problem solving, and prosocial behaviors. Children are instructed in a curriculum of cooperative teamwork and mutual respect that they can generalize to home and school settings.

Facts on the Focus on Friendships! program:
Separate groups for different age groups
Small group interaction
Parental involvement and education
Home carryover provided
Summary provided for your school therapist

Infant massage classes – There are many benefits of infant massage. The primary goals of infant massage are to teach parents to interpret a child’s non-verbal communication, to promote parent-child bonding, and to alleviate stress that interferes with healthy family relationships. ABC Therapeutics staff are trained and certified as infant massage instructors. They will work with you and your baby in private or small group classes.

Child advocacy and parent education – ABC Therapeutics recognizes the unique and irreplaceable role that parents play in the lives of their own children. We provide education, training, and support to parents so that they are best able to advocate for the needs of their children.
We help parents learn about:
special education laws
rights under special education laws
participating as a team member on the CSE/CPSE
developing meaningful goals on their child's IEP
communicating with professionals regarding their child
developing balance between educational programming, healthy recreation, and rest for their children

Parents experience many conflicting feelings when confronted with the possibility that their child may be having learning or developmental difficulties. Confusion. Anger. Frustration. Sadness. Depression. Many parents feel totally alone and unable to mobilize themselves on behalf of their children. ABC Therapeutics staff understands what you are going through. We have helped thousands of parents learn how to navigate the special education system in their children's schools. We provide you with the information you need to be an effective advocate for your own child.

The Early Intervention Program (EIP) (ages 0-3) – ABC Therapeutics helps to link parents to the Early Intervention Program and provides initial referral and interim therapy services to families waiting for their EIP eligibility to be determined. Once approved, families may also choose ABC Therapeutics as their service provider. Private therapy services are available to families who are not approved or who wish to opt out the County program.
