ADAPT is a national grass-roots community that organizes disability rights activists to engage in nonviolent direct action, including civil disobedience, to assure the civil and human rights of people with disabilities to live in freedom. ADAPT is the nation's premier grassroots disability rights group with over 5000 members in 40 states. ADAPT seeks to change discriminatory policies such as institutional bias in the nation's medicaid community. ADAPT Montana is actively working to: Get people with disabilities freed from institutional settings and returned to their communities with the support they need; Assure that local places of business and public accommodation are accessible to all citizens, in compliance with the ADA; Organize persons with disabilities and their allies to demand the civil rights accorded to all Americans and put an end to discrimination and segregation on the basis of disability.
