Pediatric occupational therapists work with children so that they can succeed at their occupations of school, play, activities of daily living (i.e. dressing, eating, toileting, bathing) and sleep. Through play children learn about themselves, about feelings, and begin developing understanding about their world. Sensory processing and sensory integration give the foundation for developing motor skills, good academic skills, the ability to attend, emotional regulation, and social skills. Many of the children seen at APT aren’t able to make sense out of movement or what they see, hear, or touch.
