The District of Columbia Chapter (AAPDC) of the national American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is the recognized Washington DC affiliate of the national organization of 60,000 pediatricians committed to the attainment of optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Its mission is to utilize its talent and resources to ensure the safety and health of children in the Washington DC area.

Our purpose is multifaceted, and through your participation in the DC Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, we can help expand your knowledge and expertise in the following ways:

Education
Chapter meetings with areas of focus relevant to practice in the DC Area.
Chapter newsletter.
Website calendar of events and activities either sponsored by DC AAP Chapter and/or like-minded organizations.
Workshops to improve your skills in educating legislators and other key stakeholders to effect better child health policy
Career day workshops focused on the needs of young physicians

Leadership
Opportunities to participate in DC AAP Chapter Committees in many areas, including school health, immunizations, adolescent health, fetus and newborn, breastfeeding, oral health, mental health, and environmental health.
Opportunities to represent DC AAP in other child health organizations on issues of concern to DC’s children.
Opportunities to represent National AAP through AAP Federal Affairs Office
