Assumption Parish Schools place a high priority on it's programs for students with disabilities because it believes very strongly that each child can reach his or her maximum potential if provided quality instruction in the appropriate learning environment.  Our mission is to ensure that every student with a disability receives a free, appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. We strive to meet the students' individuals needs by utilizing a team approach with input and support from regular education personnel, administrators, special education personnel, community agencies, parents and the students being served when appropriate. 
Students with disabilities are serviced alongside their regular education peers. 
Disabilities served include: Mild, Moderate, Severe and Profound Intellectual Disabilities, Specific Learning Disorders – Emotional & Behavioral Disorders, Deaf/Hard of Hearing Disorders, Visual Impairments, Other Health Impairments, Orthopedic Impairments, Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, Speech/Language Impairments, Developmental Delays (Ages3-9)
