Bay Camp / Junior Bay Camp
Save the Bay – Narragansett Bay
Summer Bay Camp: For girls and boys who have completed grades 3-8, Save The Bay's unique, week-long BayCamp combines the beauty of Narragansett Bay with the fascinating world of marine and aquatic science. In BayCamp, your child comes away with a greater understanding of and appreciation for the Bay and its watershed. We create games, crafts and activities that make learning about our natural environment FUN! All campers get a chance to explore the Bay along the shoreline and aboard M/V Swift. Campers visit different islands in Narragansett Bay and explore various shorelines and habitats including: sandy and rocky beaches, salt marshes and eelgrass beds. Shoreline explorations may involve seining, scavenger hunts, netting, swimming, snorkeling and games. BayCamp runs daily from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. There are three scheduled boat days, as well as a canoeing day. The final day will be for campers to create presentations demonstrating what they've learned. This year we are offering a Full Day Jr. Bay Camp! For children who have completed grades K-2, Save The Bay offers Junior BayCamp at our Newport Exploration Center & Aquarium and at our Providence Bay Center. Campers will explore Narragansett Bay along the shoreline and learn about different Bay habitats, including sandy beaches, rocky shores, salt marshes and eelgrass. The half-day Jr. Bay Camps are from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Each day is filled with Bay-themed activities, lessons, games and crafts. Come spend a week with us!
