Beartooth Children’s Center
Beartooth Billings Clinic
Beartooth Billings Clinic's Children's Center is the only state-licensed childcare center in the Red Lodge area, with daycare, latch-key, and pre-school programs for more than 40 children each day. Scholarships, made possible through a yearly grant of $5,000 from a private foundation, are available to families who either need short-term aid or ongoing assistance. A Community Advisory Board helps address long-range goals. The Center is open to all families in the Red Lodge area with children ages 2 through 3rd grade, offering childcare, early childhood education, and after-school programs. Emphasis is on the emotional, cognitive, creative, social, and physical development of every child. The Children’s Center offers the following regular programs: Daily Childcare; Drop-In Childcare; Playschool; Preschool; After-School Care; Summer Program. Both winter and summer programs are popular at the Center. The supervisory team is committed to providing an ideal environment for learning and play. "When the younger kids reach school age," says Center Supervisor Sara Urbanik, "they already have established relationships with some of the kids they will see at school. This eases the child’s transition from the Children’s Center to the school.” The Children's Center Staff has a long track record of networking and partnering, such as a transportation agreement with local Head Start. Staff members assist families in applying for state and local programs such as WIC, Food Stamps, Medicaid, Montana Healthy Kids, State Child Care Assistance, LIEAP, Food Bank, and more.
