Best Buddies
Best Buddies is a non-profit organization established in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver. The mission of Best Buddies is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Best Buddies Indiana was founded in 2002 through the support of the Indiana Down Syndrome Foundation. From that time, through the generous support of many sponsors, grants from foundations and the INDOE, Best Buddies Indiana has opened 50 high school, 15 college and 24 middle school chapters statewide. Our newest program, Best Buddies Citizens, an adult friendship program, opened in March 2014.
