Penrickton Center, established in 1952, is a private, non-profit five day residential and day care agency serving blind, multi- disabled children ages one through twelve. Penrickton Center is located in Taylor, Michigan.  Penrickton Center for Blind Children is a unique, private non-profit agency, providing five-day residential, day care, and consultation/evaluation services to blind, multi-disabled children ages one through twelve. Each program is individually designed to promote independence in all aspects of daily living. Penrickton Center utilizes its experience and expertise to train and serve families, children and professionals through support services, education and advocacy.

In the late 1950′s, Penrickton Center added a 5-day residential program to better serve children in the community. In the early 1960′s we initiated a program to serve blind children with one additional handicap because no such program existed to meet these special needs. Currently, we specialize in treating blind children ages one through twelve with a least one additional handicap such as deafness, cerebral palsy, brain damage, developmental delay and seizures.

Penrickton Center serves 33 children in our 5-day residential program. Children stay with us throughout the week and all children go home on weekends, holidays and when they are ill. Most children in our 5-day residential program live within a 2 hour driving distance to Penrickton Center.

Penrickton Center is also licensed as a Day Care Center for children ages 1-6 who are legally blind and have at least one additional handicap. Our day care program is individualized for each child from one to five days. Most children in Day Care live within a one hour driving distance to Penrickton Center.

Services include: Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, Music Therapy, Dance and Movement Therapy, Developmental Programming, Active Learning, Child Care Staff ratio of three children to one child care worker.
