Bonita Equestrian Therapy – California
Therapeutic horseback riding for individuals with disabilities in San Diego County. This recreational activity can improve coordination, muscular strength, motor skills, flexibility, and self-esteem, among other skills.
Mission Statement:
Bonita Equestrian Therapy is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing therapeutic riding activities in a safe, effective and compassionate environment. Bonita Equestrian Therapy for Heroes is honored to support OEF/OIF combat injured veterans including those with amputations, traumatic brain injury, and post-traumatic stress disorder, in a 10-week therapeutic/recreational-riding program.
Mounted sessions improve muscle tone, balance, coordination, and confidence. Sessions working with horses on the ground builds a direct connection with the horse, builds trust and communication, and provides an opportunity for emotional release, unconditional acceptance, and a sense of accomplishment. B.E.T.H. established in 1985, is a non-profit equestrian therapy program that serves the disabled community of San Diego County. The program offers low cost therapeutic horseback riding to children and adults with physician-diagnosed challenges. B.E.T.H. is a recognized Member Center of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). As a part of NARHA, Bonita Equestrian is committed to following guidelines that ensure a safe, yet challenging experience for students at every level of horsemanship.
