CAPVI exists to promote and provide information to parents of children with visual impairments through workshops, email and publications; to provide opportunities for parents and professionals to network; to increase public awareness about children with visual impairments so that they may be more easily included in the community; to foster communication and coordination of services between state and local
agencies and organizations involved with people with visual impairments; and to advocate for educational needs and welfare of children who are blind or visually impaired.
