Founded 50 years ago, National Children's Center, Inc. (NCC) is a recognized leader in providing comprehensive and innovative services for children and adults with developmental disabilities in the District of Columbia and Maryland. Our mission is to provide a lifetime of opportunities for people in our community with developmental disabilities to live full, meaningful and productive lives.

 

Programs and Services

 

Early Intervention Program – Early intervention and preschool programs for infants and young children with and without disabilities. Our individualized support services help young children overcome or learn to compensate for their delays and prepare them for successful school years.

School Programs – Education for school-aged children with disabilities that are too complex or severe for the public school system. Our curriculum-based education and specialized support services ensure children achieve educational outcomes and have the skills for a successful transition to adulthood.

Residential Services – Group homes and transitional living homes for children and youth. Including; independent apartments, and supervised apartments for men and women with developmental disabilities. Adult Day Program – Therapies, life and social skills classes, community-based activities and vocational services ensure men and women with disabilities achieve greater independence and have the daily care they require.

Employment Options – Career development and employment services for men and women with developmental disabilities. Greater DC Respitality – gives caregivers of people with developmental disabilities a break in a local hotel, with complimentary meals and extras such as gift certificates, spa services, flowers, and tickets to local events. While the caregivers are relaxing and enjoying their night off, a stipend from Greater DC Respitality covers the cost of care for the loved one with a disability by a person chosen and hired by the caregiver.
