Baylor Health Care System provides full-range, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation and emergency medical services through 27 owned, leased or affiliated hospitals and surgical services at six short-stay hospitals.

At Our Children’s House at Baylor, our Pediatric Day Neuro Rehabilitation Program offers services to children living at home who still need intensive, concentrated therapy. The program is basically a way to bridge inpatient care with traditional (less intensive) outpatient care.

The program is for children ages 5 – 18 who have an acquired brain injury and are making rapid gains in the acute phase of their recovery process.   This intensive, cognitive-based therapy program is designed to help your child optimize his or her rehabilitation potential.  Your physician and therapists may determine, as a part of your discharge planning, that your child may benefit from this hospital-based program.  If so, your child’s case manager will help the transition.

Patients with the following diagnosis may be appropriate for the program:

    Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
    Stroke
    Seizure Disorder
    Brain Tumor

Individual Treatment in a Caring Environment

Patients in the Day Neuro Rehabilitation program receive a variety of therapies based on their individual needs. A thorough evaluation will be performed upon admission to the program and an individualized comprehensive treatment plan will be developed.  The plan may include:

    Neuropsychological Therapy
    Speech Therapy
    Occupational Therapy
    Physical Therapy
    Aquatic Therapy
    School

Therapy treatments may be provided on an individual basis or in a small group setting, if appropriate.
