Chittenden County Transportation Authority
The mission of CCTA is to promote and operate safe, convenient, accessible, innovative and sustainable public transportation services in the northwest and central Vermont region that reduce congestion and pollution, encourage transit oriented development and enhance the quality of life for all. CCTA offers fixed route, demand response, commuter shuttles, and ADA and paratransit services. In addition to its fixed-route services, CCTA offers downtown employees a program called the Downtown PARC. This program shuttles employees from a satellite parking lot on Pine Street to downtown Burlington businesses, conserving scarce downtown parking for shoppers and visitors. also provides shuttles from senior housing complexes to local supermarkets and neighborhood specials for student transportation to Burlington schools. In compliance with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act, CCTA also provides transportation services for those who are unable to use bus service. Through a contract with the Special Services Transportation Agency (SSTA), van service is provided within a three-quarter mile radius of the CCTA fixed route service area. In FY 2007, SSTA provided almost 36,000 rides to people who could not use the fixed route bus service.
