"Reliable transportation is a valuable asset for ADA-eligible citizens when they seek to work, attend school, shop or get health care.  Since passage of the ""Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990"", the City of Columbia has provided curb-to-curb (Origin to Destination) transportation service to citizens who are certified as unable to ride Columbia Transit's fixed-route bus system.
The City has lift-equipped para-transit mini-buses that provide curb-tocurb service to qualified individuals. After receiving a completed application, applicants may receive 21 days of complimentary Para transit service. When a completed application is received by Columbia Transit, a meeting will be scheduled with a representative from Columbia Transit in order to furnish information concerning the Para-Transit Service. Meetings are held the First and Third Tuesdays of each month. Complimentary transportation will be provided to and from the meeting if needed. Failure to attend a scheduled meeting will result in denial of service until the requirement is made. If a meeting is not scheduled within the 21 days, the applicant will be “presumed eligible”, until a meeting is held."
