Columbia St. Mary’s Women’s Hospital Pediatric Therapy Department
We treat children with a wide variety of pediatric issues that affect growth and development. This may include developmental delays, neuromuscular disorders, learning disabilities and/or behavioral problems. Each child we serve has a designated rehabilitation team assigned to his or her care. This team includes professionals with specialized training and experience in pediatric rehabilitation. The team may consist of a Speech Language Pathologist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Educator, Physician, and a Psychologist. These specialists are sensitive to the unique needs of children and use therapeutic techniques and play that keep your child’s interest and focus. Columbia St. Mary’s commitment to providing service of the highest standard is paramount. We achieve this result by having highly skilled and trained therapists and caregivers who receive ongoing training and learning opportunities. Family and caregiver participation is essential to your child’s progress. You are actually the key leader of your child’s rehabilitation team! Your participation, sharing and training are vital elements of the rehabilitation process. The rehabilitation process is challenging. It can be long and sometimes stressful for both you and your child. During rehabilitation it is important to celebrate your child’s successes — big and small.
