Community Sailing Center – Adaptive Sailing – VERMONT
The Community Saling Center (CSC) is a community based non-profit organization that operates in a permanent, year-round facility on Burlington’s waterfront, offering educational and recreational programming for all people. CSC partners with other local organizations and schools to bring responsible and safe non-fossil-fuel-powered boating on Lake Champlain closer to everyone in the greater Burlington community.
The Adaptive Watersport Program’s mission is to provide on the water opportunities for everyone, regardless of disability, age, and ability to pay and at all levels from supervised recreational sailing to independent racing competition.
AWP participants learn the skills of sailing in our fleet of especially designed sailboats, including a 23-foot keelboat and Martin 16. In partnership with Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, this program has served thousands of people with disabilities since its inception in 1997. Reservations or questions can be directed to Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sport Program Coordinator Dave D’Angelo at 802-353-3178 or by contacting the Community Sailing Center’s office.
Multiple outreach programs, designed for at-risk youth and people with disabilities, enable underserved populations to take ownership of Lake Champlain, resulting in hope, awe and inspiration. CSC works with a number of community organizations to give all children and adults access to experiences that will help them lead healthy, caring, responsible and productive lives.
