Our tagline “The Network for Exceptional Care” highlights these broad services, which are delivered by more than 8,200 dedicated professionals, more than 1,000 physicians and 700 volunteers. What is now Cone Health began in 1953 when The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital opened its doors with 231 employees and 53 beds in service. The hospital – founded from a trust that Bertha Cone established after her husband Moses died in 1908 – continued to grow and later merged with other facilities to expand its network of service to the community.
