EDUCARE Central Maine
Educare Central Maine is the first Educare site in New England and is designed to serve between 150 and 200 mostly low-income children from before they are born to age 5, during this most critical brain development stage. The goal is to measurably increase their school-readiness and significantly reduce unnecessary special education costs. A private/public partnership, Educare Central Maine will serve as a state-of-the-art professional development and resource center for child care professionals across the state, as well as a teaching lab for students seeking an early childhood degree in Maine.
Educare Central Maine is located in Waterville, Maine and built beside the George J. Mitchell Elementary School (GJMS), providing a natural transition between educational homes for the young learners, their parents, and staff maximizing resources and expertise. The program will prepare children to enter kindergarten engaged, healthy, and socially and emotionally-ready to succeed. Families are valued and given the information and support they need to help their children succeed in education and life.
Children and families enrolled in Educare Central Maine will receive an array of Early Childhood Development, Health, Nutrition, and Family support services.
