Educational Service Unit #5
"Located in Beatrice, Nebraska, ESU No. 5 is a cooperative educational agency that enhances opportunities for all learners by providing innovative and responsive leadership and support to schools in Gage, Jefferson and Thayer counties. Services are offered in the areas of School Improvement & Staff Development, Special Education & Early Childhood Development, Interactive & Web-based Distance Learning, Behavior Management, Alternative High School, Media Services, Curriculum & Instruction, and Leadership Training. The mission of Educational Service Unit No 5, as a cooperative educational agency, is to enhance opportunities for all learners by providing innovative and responsive leadership and support services to empower schools in achieving their individual missions. Educational Service Unit No 5 will provide services, products and funding, that support teaching and learning activities of the school districts' students, teachers and administrators. The Early Development Network provides family-centered services, based on the special needs of each child and family. Services that may be provided to children and families include, but aren't limited to:
Speech/language therapy
Physical therapy
Occupational therapy
Psychological services
Assistive technology devices & services
Audiology
Vision services
Transportation
Services coordination – The Early Development Network will assist families in finding services to meet developmental, educational, financial, health care, child care, respite care, and other needs. With so many providers involved, the Early Development Network can help to coordinate these services to ease the pressures on the family. Services provided are based upon the the developmental needs of the child as determined through the FREE evaluation. Provided services are not based upon family income; there is no cost to families if the child qualifies.
