The primary mission of the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh is to provide residential homes for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and promote public awareness of their needs. The Community, inspired by Faith and a desire to help others, seeks to improve the quality of life for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  In living, working and breaking bread together, people with and without disabilities learn and grow together.

Emmaus is unique because it is built on a model of staff living in the homes provided by Emmaus, in a family-style atmosphere to foster mutual growth.
