Families & Youth, Inc. FYI is a non-profit organization founded on April 1, 1977 as a pilot project, Children in Need of Supervision. It became incorporated as CHINS, Inc. on October 1, 1979. The agency changed its name from CHINS, Inc. to Families & Youth, Inc., October 1987. Jose V. Frietze has served as the Chief Executive Director from the agency’s inception to the present.
Since its beginning, FYI has provided a variety of programs to the community. These programs cover the spectrum from prevention, education to intervention, to residential. FYI is a major provider of quality low-cost clinical and social services for youth and their families in the Las Cruces area.
Our purpose is to develop and implement prevention, intervention, and treatment services to children and their families in a responsive, coordinated, timely, and equitable manner.
