Head Start offers exciting learning activities for children from birth to age 5, nutritious meals and snacks and even diapers, formula and baby wipes for infants and toddlers enrolled in child care. All of the programs are focused on helping young children develop cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills and include parents and caregivers in planning and evaluating the program.

Head Start is located in locations in the East Bay of Rhode Island: East Providence, Middletown, Newport, Tiverton and Warren. Additionally, income eligible families who reside in Barrington, Bristol, Little Compton, Jamestown and Portsmouth may also apply for services. Although daily transportation is not provided, our Willett Avenue, Mary V. Quirk and Newport sites are on RIPTA bus lines, and Head Start staff will also assist families to understand and access transportation options through: provision of information about RIPTA bus passes, routes and other services; and individual assistance with transportation issues such as flexible scheduling and alternative site placements.
