High Horses is a PATH International Premier Accredited Equine-Assisted Services Center, located in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont. Their mission is to improve lives through human-horse connections that inspire and transform individuals’ learning, healing and personal development. Since 1993, High Horses has been focused on each of their participant’s strengths and abilities, fostering achievement, confidence, and joy through equine-assisted services, while meeting the highest standards for safety, horse care and program quality.

High Horses provides:

  • Adaptive Riding: A recreational horseback riding service modified to meet the unique physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of individuals with disabilities. This service focuses on horsemanship and riding skills while building valuable life skills such as physical strength, confidence, and overall well-being in an inclusive, supportive environment led by PATH Intl. certified instructors.
  • Occupational Therapy: The use of equine movement as a treatment intervention strategy. For individuals with cerebral palsy, occupational therapists use the horse’s movement to address postural control, balance, tone regulation, coordination, endurance, and functional motor skills. The multidimensional movement of the horse closely mirrors human gait and provides neuromotor and sensory input not replicable in a clinic setting.

Their PATH-certified instructors, licensed occupational therapists, volunteers, and specially selected horses work together to create individualized sessions for children and adults with physical, developmental, neurological, and emotional challenges.
