HorseAbility – Therapeutic Riding – NEW YORK
Located at SUNY Old Westbury, HorseAbility offers Therapeutic Riding, Hippotherapy, Equine Facilitated Therapy and Summer Day Camp (located in Melville) for individuals with Special Needs.
Volunteer opportunities available HorseAbility began in 1993 when founder Kathleen (Katie) Kilcommons McGowan lent her horse to a friend and physical therapist who used hippotherapy as a treatment modality for a child with cerebral palsy.
HorseAbility offers year-round programming at our facility of the campus of SUNY Old Westbury. Each program is tailored to meet the individual needs of our clients.
The riders at HorseAbility are a diverse group of children and adults. Children as young as 3 participate in our program, and there is no age limit. Currently our oldest rider is 85 years of age. Riders of all ages can benefit from HorseAbility’s programs listed below.
