The Health Department is the sole agency responsible for improving the health of Howard County. By State and County

authority, the Health Department is charged with enforcement of certain federal, state and county laws and regulations.

To address the health needs of our residents, the Healthy Howard Initiative, the Healthy Howard Access Plan (HHAP)

were created. The Healthy Howard Initiative encourages individuals, businesses, schools and other public and private

entities to undertake activities that will dramatically improve the health of the County’s residents and workers. The

Healthy Howard Access Plan connects Howard County residents to affordable health care services and helps members

overcome barriers to healthy living.
