King County Metro Accessible Services
Contact: Kevin Desmond
Metro is committed to providing King County residents and visitors with valued transportation services, and our services extend to customers with special needs due to age or disabilities. Metro provides Access Transportation paratransit service for qualified customers, and 100% of Metro buses are accessible. We offer accessible online trip planning and a variety of accessible means to interact and use our services. Metro's Accessible Services group manages the Access Transportation program, and develops transportation products, technologies and services that are accessible and usable by all people. We work to equip and motivate the community to provide additional mobility solutions and empower the public with information to make informed choices. To learn more about the many transportation tools available, please click on one of the navigation links shown on the left side of this screen. FindARide.org is a gateway to transportation options in the Puget Sound area for persons with disabilities, senior citizens and others with special transportation needs. It provides links to transportation tools such as the transit trip planner, and includes a searchable database to allow people with special transportation needs, case managers, and agencies to find transportation in the Central Puget Sound Region. The database provides information on transit agencies; other transportation providers; agencies which help riders pick providers or arrange for rides; agencies which pay for rides; rideshare and vanpool information; home delivery; and programs which lend, rent or purchase vehicles for people with special needs. The King County Accessible Services Advisory Committee provides suggestions and recommendations to the King County Department of Transportation on transportation services for elderly people and people with disabilities. Its purpose is to empower the disability community to obtain equality of opportunity and maximum independence in using public transit. If you have questions or comments for Accessible Services, you may contact them directly at Access.CustomerService@kingcounty.gov.
