Kingston’s Camp, Inc.
Kingston’s Camp is located in West Kingston, 5 minutes from URI, on ten acres of Nature at its best!! Unhampered by electricity, there are pines, fields, fruit trees, flowers, birds, bugs, crystal clear pond, fish, turtles, out-houses and large army tents. Just what we all want in a summer day camp. We are the fourth family to run this children’s day-camp since 1961. Larkin’s Pond is used only in the summer, the water is pure and clean. Our beach is sandy with a gradual incline into our roped off swimming area. The Girl Scouts, Larkin’s Pond Beach Club and friendly wildlife share the pond with us. Boys and Girls entering Kindergarten to Grade 6 (ages 5 to 11) make up our campers. Our camp has a limited number of children attending, ensuring the lush pristine site. All our activities are at a pace dictated by the campers. They are taught in groups according to their age level. Camp wide activities dominate many parts of our week, including games, guests, and crafts. Our goal is to expose campers to traditional camp activities in a safe environment. With our optimal staff to camper ratio (7:1) we make the time to get to know your child, and create an experience that will last a lifetime. Our mission is to provide a traditional outdoor summer day camp experience. We aspire to conserve and preserve our environment, teach about nature, ecology and non-violence. Our science, art, crafts, and drama projects will utilize plants, animals & recyclables from our environment. Our games, lessons and activities will focus on fixing problems, teach teamwork, conflict reconciliation, and promote campers growth in a natural environment.
