Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network L.A.T.A.N
The Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network (LATAN) is a 501(c)(3) statewide nonprofit organization that connects individuals with disabilities and older persons to the Assistive Technology (AT) that enables independence in employment, school, and community living.
LATAN assists individuals with disabilities to achieve a higher quality of life and greater independence through increased access to Assistive Technology (AT) as part of their daily lives.
LATAN serves Louisiana citizens of all ages with all types of disabilities and with limitations due to aging who need AT and daily living aids.
AT includes items that individuals use to:
- Assist them in daily activities, such as canes, wheelchairs, communication devices, hearing aids, keyboard alternatives, learning software and vision aids.
LATAN is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors, representing a diversity of perspectives with regard to disability, ethnic and geographic cultures. Board members are recruited statewide to include AT users, family members of AT users and community leaders. Volunteers are involved in LATAN activities through its board, committees, focus groups, advisory councils, program services, and special projects.
