Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, located in Wheaton, Illinois, has been serving the physical rehabilitation needs of adults and children since 1972. Offering inpatient, outpatient and subacute rehabilitation programs, Marianjoy’s flagship facility has the distinction of being the only free-standing rehabilitation hospital of its kind in the country with 120 private rooms.

At Marianjoy, we recognize the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families. Our Pediatric Rehabilitation Program provides inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative care to children, from birth to 18 years of age, who have physical and/or learning challenges due to illness, injury or congenital causes.  The Marianjoy Medical Group physicians and clinicians seek out the latest in medical technology and treatment methods to provide excellence in care to children, including:

Interdisciplinary care
Sensory integration therapy, a technique used to treat neurological disorders such as attention deficit disorder and autism. Used in conjunction with other techniques, it helps children in processing sensory input and learning
Botox and phenol injections, which help reduce focal spasticity
Serial casting, a non-invasive technique to stretch and elongate muscle tissue, in order to improve the child's function
Aquatic therapy to help improve muscle flexibility, strengthening and retraining
Videofluoroscopic evaluation of swallowing by trained pediatric speech-language pathologists
Constraint-induced therapy to encourage use of non-dominant/injured or impaired extremity
Partial body weight supported treadmill training
Driver Evaluation and Training for new drivers to assess potential for independent driving and to make recommendations for modifications and training
