The Maryland Department of Human Resources is the state's human services provider. We help vulnerable Marylanders buy healthy foods, pay energy bills, and obtain medical assistance. We also provide stable environments for at-risk children and adults. We may be able to help you.

Programs Include: Foster Care/ Adoption, Child Protective Services, Food Assistance, Energy Assistance, Child Support, Medical Assistance, Health Coverage and Purchase Care.

The Child Care Subsidy or Purchase of Child Care (POC) program helps eligible families pay for child care. Vouchers, issued to eligible families by local departments of social services, are used to purchase care from any regulated child care center or home or from an informal provider approved by the local department.  For help locating a regulated child care provider, contact Child Care Resource Centers in your area.

DHR's Respite Program is administered through the Community Services Administration/ Office of Adult Services. Respite is available to children and adults with developmental or functional disabilities.
