Services:

Inpatient Services:

Acute Care- This is the care of the acutely ill patient within a hospital setting, including, but not limited to, assessment and/or treatment of their illness/disease process by professional nursing staff 24-hours a day.

Skilled Care – Also known as Swing Bed, is provided when patients no longer qualify for acute care, but require further treatment for their original diagnosis. A patient will be transferred to Swing Bed status for such treatments as: Physical Therapy, IV Therapy, further assessment of response to treatment or any other Medicare approved therapies. **Non-Medicare or Medicaid patients must be pre-approved by their insurance company to receive this service.

Observation Care – Includes care and monitoring of a patient within the hospital setting, to observe for further development of an injury or a disease process. Patients are to provide their own home medications when admitted under this status.

Intermediate Care – Provided for patients who meet neither the acute nor skilled care criteria. The daily room and care charges are the financial responsibility of the patient. All medications and personal supplies are furnished by the patient. Intermediate care is intended to be a short term stay and may be utilized when a patient is waiting for nursing home placement. A patient admitted into Intermediate care may transfer from acute or skilled care or may be admitted from home or another facility.

Respite Care – Can be utilized for a short time if a family, caring for a loved one at home, wishes to go on vacation. The daily room and care charges are the financial responsibility of the patient/caregiver and all medications and personal supplies are to be furnished by the patient.

Case Management/Discharge Planning -Discharge planning is provided with the assistance of the hospital staff, in coordination with patients, families, physicians, and the use of community resources, to adequately meet the daily needs of the discharged patient to a safe environment.

Social Service – ECMC works in partnership with the Social Service Department at Salina Regional Medical Center on or as needed basis for assistance and consultation.

Nursing Home Placement Assessments- The State of Kansas requires a CARE assessment to be done on all potential nursing home residents. ECMC has qualified RNs to provide this service at no cost to our patients.

Outpatient Services:

Outpatient IV Therapy- This service is provided for patients that would benefit from IV antibiotic therapy without requiring hospitalization. The patient is scheduled to come into the hospital outpatient area once or twice a day for the infusion on a regularly scheduled basis for the duration of ordered treatment.

Injection Services – Outpatient services are available for injections that are ordered by physicians. These injections can be ordered as frequently as several times a week to every few months.

Cardiac Monitoring/ Mobile Telemetry – This service is provided when patients require close observation and monitoring for changes in heart rate and/or rhythm. Mobile Telemetry allows the patient to ambulate in the room or in the hallway while continuously being monitored for cardiac changes.

Outpatient Wound Care Therapy – This service is provided for simple and complex dressing changes, including KCI Wound Vac Systems.

Specialty Clinics Available through ECMC Outpatient Services – ECMC hosts a variety of different specialty clinics in our Outpatient Services Area. These services allow patients in Ellsworth and surrounding areas to see specialists without a long drive for their appointments. Appointments can be made through each specific provider’s office. Some of the specialty areas available are Cardiology, Nephrology, Podiatry, OB/GYN, Endoscopy, Audiology, and Orthopedic services.

Wellness Center – Our physical therapists work with clients to promote independent exercise or will provide assistance to setup a personal exercise program.
Monthly Memberships – A membership allows you unlimited access to our facility 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Equipment in Center:
Trifit 620: a state of the art computerized physical assessment system capable of assessing vitals, body fat percentage, cardiovascular level, strength level, and flexibility level. The data obtained allows the staff to assist you in setting up the right exercise program. Also, the data can be provided that will assess your health risks for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and other related diseases. Please call ext. 324 for prices.

Broadcast Vision: a wireless fitness cinema system that will allow you to choose from 64 television stations to watch while exercising. It is as easy as putting on headphones, plugging into the individual transmitters on the equipment, and tuning into a station on one of the 3 different TVs.
