Since 1963, Melwood has enabled people with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives through employment, community participation, and recreation. Currently, more than 2000 people with disabilities in the Washington, DC area rely on Melwood services. Our beautifully wooded 108-acre property offers the perfect country setting for any event. Nestled in the serenity of Nanjemoy, Maryland, we are a reasonable driving distance from Baltimore and Washington as well as Northern Virginia.  Through Melwood’s Contract Services, over 600 people with disabilities work at over 50 work sites in the National Capital area. Melwood’s Community Services supports children, youth, and adults with disabilities to live, work, and play where and how they choose. Services such as supported employment, day services, supported living, and recreation enable individuals with disabilities to maximize their independence and inclusion within the community.  Melwood's Community Support Services supports children, youth and adults with disabilities to live, work and play where and how they choose. Services such as supported employment, day services, supported living and recreation enable individuals with disabilities to maximize their independence and inclusion within the community.  Nestled in the serenity of Nanjemoy, Maryland, Melwood Recreation Center includes Camp Accomplish, an inclusive summer camp program, Access Adventures, a travel program for adults with disabilities and Equestrian Programs, offering therapeutic and general horsemanship lessons to youth and adults of all abilities. Recreation Center programs allow each individual to try new activities and soar to personal success. Melwood Recreation Center can also be rented for group activities and special events.

Melwood is a dynamic nonprofit that creates jobs and opportunities to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Now approaching our 50th year, Melwood serves more than 2,400 people with disabilities in the greater Washington, DC area.
