Jefferson Transit Para transit van provides service for certified riders who are unable to use the fixed route service.
The Mobility Impaired Transportation System, known as MITS, is part of Jefferson Transit.
MITS provides transportation for persons with disabilities who are unable to use fixed route Jefferson Transit service.
The MITS service, also known as para transit service, is designed to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
LIFT/Dial-A-Ride is a comparable para transit service operated by the Regional Transit Authority in Orleans Parish.
MITS (Mobility Impaired Transit System) is operated by Jefferson Transit for those persons unable to use fixed route transit. MITS offers curb to curb service for those individuals who have been certified to ride the system.
MITS provides three designated transfer locations for certified riders who need to transfer to RTA’s Lift/Dial-a-Ride paratransit services. Trips must be scheduled the day before service is desired
