MOBY Para Transit Service
City of Omaha Metro
"The American Disabilities Act (ADA) mandates federally funded public mass transit systems operate Complementary Paratransit service for persons who cannot independently use fixed route service because of a disability. The ADA Complementary Paratransit service acts as a ""complement"" to the bus service. In Omaha, Metro's service is called MOBY and operates the same hours and days as the fixed route service within a 3/4 mile corridor and 3/4 mile terminus of a fixed route. Personal Care Attendants (""PCA"") ride for free and Companions are charged the regular MOBY fare.
The metropolitan cities contiguous to Omaha are responsible for the operation of their ADA complementary paratransit services. These cities include: 1)in NE – Ralston, Bellevue, LaVista, Papillion and 2) in IA – Council Bluffs. MOBY is an advance reservation origin-to-destination, curb-to-curb shared ride complimentary paratransit system. When capacity constraints require, Metro schedules cabs to complete MOBY trips.
MOBY is an advance reservation curb-to-curb transportation service for residents of the metropolitan area and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) eligible persons visiting within Omaha's city limits, who, as a result of their disabilities are unable to use conventional ADA fixed-route Omaha Metro bus service.
All prospective MOBY clients must complete an ADA Eligibility application. MOBY applications are available here, or by calling 402-341-0800, ext 2105."
