"The mission of NAMI North Carolina is to promote recovery and optimize the quality of life for those affected by mental illness. We are part of  NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) which has over 210,000 members in 1,200 affiliates across the country. NAMI NC is a non profit organization, governed by a volunteer board of directors. The NAMI movement focuses specifically upon those mental illnesses that are brain disorders. These are serious illnesses that can affect a person’s ability to think, feel and relate to other people and the environment.
