Finding out your loved one has a mental, emotional, or behavioral health disorder is a staggering experience. This is a time you need hope and real help. The good news: Help is available. The Nebraska Family Support Network is there for such families because they have been there themselves. NFSN employs Family Partners to provide peer mentoring services. Nebraska Family Support Network (NFSN) was established in 1991 to provide support and services to families of children with mental illness and behavioral disorders in Region 6. NFSN engages family members and other groups to educate policy makers, professional organizations, educators, and the public about the needs of children with emotional, behavioral, and mental disorders and their families. There is increasing evidence of the effectiveness of peer mentoring (family to family or consumer to consumer) a model for practice that is currently flourishing across the nation. This model of interaction and support is significantly increasing desired outcomes children and families.
