NorthShore Center for Neurodevelopmental Disabilities – Skokie IL
The Center for Neurodevelopmental Disabilities houses two specialty clinics serving children and adolescents. Our staff of developmental-behavioral pediatricians, clinical child psychologist and social worker focus on developmental, behavioral and learning issues in children from infancy through young adulthood.
Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Clinic (NDD Clinic)
The NDD Clinic serves families whose children have been diagnosed with developmental and behavioral problems.
An initial evaluation will include a one hour visit with child and parents. A developmental-behavioral pediatrician will assess the child, and interview parents about a child’s developmental history, habits, abilities and challenges. We understand that children’s development and behavior happen first and foremost in the context of the family. Our physicans seek to understand the issue from the family’s view as well as the effects on both the child and the entire family. If needed, follow up visits or additional diagnostic testing may be scheduled. Once the evaluation is completed the physician will provide a full report and a specific diagnosis when appropriate.
NDD staff advocate for their patients with developmental and behavioral problems by working closely with schools, preschools, and therapy providers. Families may also receive recommendations for treatment or referrals to agencies that fund and provide such treatments, help finding therapists, and guidance in choosing educational settings.
