OCCK, Inc (KS)
OCCK is a not-for-profit, mission-based organization that has been providing services to people with disabilities since 1970. We have regional offices in Salina, Abilene, Beloit, and Concordia. We provide services to people with all types of disabilities so that they can live independently. “Extraordinary People Creating Ordinary Lives”.
Developmental Disability Services:
Day Services – These services are provided typically during working hours either at your place of work, one of our work centers, or at a business based out of your home to increase your independence, integration, inclusion, and personal accomplishment.
Community Living -These services are provided where you live and are designed to assist you to live successfully in the community you have chosen. We provide a wide variety of supports ranging from teaching independent living skills to traditional 24-hour residential services.
The Solution Outreach Center at OCCK Inc. – Connects people with disabilities of all ages to the tools needed to live as full participants in the community. We believe an informed customer working collaboratively with knowledgeable professionals can best identify and select effective technology devices and services. Through information and referral, assessments, computer labs, job accommodations, technical assistance, training sessions, and equipment loans, the Solution Outreach Center enables people to live, learn, work, define their futures, and achieve their dreams.
Independent Connection® – Works with people of all ages and disabilities to locate services and eliminate physical and philosophical barriers so living independently is a reality for all.
CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING – The term “center for independent living” means a consumer-controlled, community-based, cross-disability, non-residential private non-profit agency that is designed and operated within a local community by individuals with disabilities and provides an array of independent living services. Centers for Independent Living are unique to all other service agencies because the majority of the staff are people with disabilities. We have created a system that is simple, you call and we come to your home. Paper work is simple. You choose how much involvement we have.
North Central Kansas Workforce Solutions – Our Employment Consultants work with people with disabilities to find employment. NCKWS provides employment related services to businesses and individuals at no cost. In addition to helping job seekers with disabilities, NCKWS has developed local Business Advisory Councils (BAC) throughout the nine county region. We currently have active BAC's in Abilene, Beloit, Concordia, and Salina. The role of the council is to create a link between the businesses needing work completed and the sources of supply for labor.
Infant Toddler Services- Infant Toddler Services is a family-centered early intervention service. Services are designed to meet the needs of a child who is diagnosed with a developmental disability or exhibits a delay in a developmental skill area. Services are provided in the family home or childcare setting, but could include other community settings. Needs are identified through a free screening and services may include:
Speech/Language therapy,
Occupational therapy,
Physical Therapy,
Early Childhood Special Education Services,
Family training,
Assistive technology,
Psychological services,
Nutrition services,
Transition services when the child reaches age 3
Case Management- OCCK Inc. provides case management services to children and adults with developmental disabilities. We will work with you to find out what resources are available to benefit you. Service Coordination Specialists (SCS) provide support to individuals, their guardians and families to promote independence and inclusion in their communities. We work with you and people important to you to assist with the services you need to succeed. As your partner and advocate, we will find resources, explain your rights, and help you understand systems. We are with you every step of the way!
Our case managers will be your resource for information, your advocate, and your assistant through systems while helping you plan for your future and find the services you need. We also provide 24-hour on-call services to assist you with crisis action planning. We believe our values are unique because we believe people can learn, grow, have control over their lives and will gain the skills they need to be independent. We link you to information and resources that lead you toward independence and dignity in your life.
