School districts and parents may have disagreements regarding the education of students with exceptionalities and they need to make every effort to resolve their differences. When a concerns arises about a student’s education the issues may be resolved through informal conferences or individualized education program (IEP) team meetings. When these steps do not resolve the issue, the OAAR is required to administer a system for mediation and due process hearings regarding the identification, evaluation, placement and/or provision of FAPE for students with exceptionalities.
