Billings Optimist Clubs
Shawn Ashcraft – Camp Director
The Optimist Special Children's Camp is a recreational summer camp for children with developmental disabilities. The camp is available to children ages 8-21. Throughout the week, campers participate in a variety of exciting activities including fishing, bowling, dancing, arts & crafts, swimming, a carnival, a tour of the Beartooth Nature Center, and much more! The Optimist Special Children's Camp is an overnight camp that takes place at the Lions Camp facility near Red Lodge, MT. It occurs annually in late July and/or the beginning of August. Typically, around 50 campers attend. Campers stay in cabins with several other campers and two or three counselors who are assigned to them for the week. The Optimist Clubs of Billings, MT sponsor the Optimist Special Children's Camp. As a result of their annual fundraising and service efforts, they are able to offer the Optimist Camp at no cost to campers and their families.
