Parent Center, Long Island (LIPC)
The LIPC is available to provide information and support to parents and professionals, through person to person contact, training, workshops, website contact and our resource library regarding services to children with special needs.
LIPC Mission Statement- “To enhance the ability of parents to collaborate with school districts and ensure access to appropriate services for their children with special needs regardless of language, culturally different lifestyles, and/or past educational experiences”.
The purpose of the Long Island Parent Center is to help parents and professionals get services that meet the needs of their children with disabilities, age 3 through 21, by:
Offering information about services available and how they are provided
Promoting the provision of special education services in the least restrictive environment
Demonstrating support of NYSED Special Education Reform initiatives
Encouraging parent involvement in their child’s education
The LIPC is available to assist parents by providing information on available resources and by enhancing their skills through training.
