The Peacock Cerebral Palsy & Movement Disorder Center at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland, Northern California is a leader in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy (CP) and spasticity. Led by a team of nationally-recognized specialists and pioneers in rhizotomy treatment, our spasticity program is the largest and most comprehensive in the region.

The Center brings together developmental experts from different specialties including neurosurgery, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, orthotics, and prosthetics to evaluate and treat your child.

Why Families Choose Us
Neurosurgical procedures like selective dorsal rhizotomy and Baclofen pump placement, combined with orthopedic surgery and intensive physical rehabilitation therapy, can improve the quality of life for children with cerebral palsy. Many children who receive treatment at our facilities become lifetime walkers, instead of being confined for life to a wheelchair.

The Children’s Peacock Center for Cerebral Palsy and Movement Disorders is named after Warwick Peacock, MD, the modern pioneer in selective dorsal rhizotomy in the United States.

Primary and secondary service areas include :
Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Joaquin, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma, and Stanislaus Counties.
