Pediatrics Department Saint Barnabas Medical Center
We offer the expertise of a specialized team of physicians, including, neonatologists, pediatric critical care physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, child life coordinators, social workers and all other health care professionals dedicated to the well-being of the patients we serve.
Virtually every major pediatric sub-specialty service is represented in the Pediatrics Department, including allergy, cardiology, child development, emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, genetics, hematology/oncology, immunology, infectious diseases, intensive care, neonatology, nephrology, neurology, pulmonology and rheumatology.
Surgical specialty areas include craniofacial surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, opthalmology, orthopedic, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, transplant and urology. The attending staff includes more than 250 pediatric practitioners, and an integrated residency program with the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Our new state-of-the-art $8 million McMullen Children’s Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center is a “hospital within a hospital” designed to meet the medical and emotional needs of young patients.
Pediatric inpatient services, including a 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, are centralized within one area of the Medical Center. The Children’s Center offers the latest technologies, child-friendly patient rooms and a cheerfully-decorated playroom, family friendly lounges and lobbies, a parent overnight room, sibling play areas and access to the finest pediatric care available.
